I wish i can be a Clinical Psychologist , it is very interesting although there are many set-backs.
A Clinical Psychologist mainly provides psychological services for both inpatients and outpatients as a member of a multi- disciplinary team within department of psychological medicine. There are also opportunities to participate in or conduct research.
The requirements of this job are:
- Masters degree in the following specialities such as clinical psychology, Neuropsychology,Counseling Psychology,Health Psychology. Those with good Honours will be considered on a case by case basis.
-Minimum of 2 to 3 years of relevant clinical experience required. Those trained in psychological assessments (IQ and Neuropsycholoical) would be preferred.
-Good interpersonal skills and the ability to speak a second language are a must.
-A teamplayer who is motivated to provide a high standard of patient care.
-A matured individual who is capable of decision-making and critical thinking and judgement in clinical matters.
-Preferably holding or are eligible for a valid registration,license or practicing certificate with an established or recognized psychological professional body such as SRP,APA,APS or BPS.
What does a Clinical Psychology do?
- It helps people to reduce psychological distress and to enhance and promote psychological well-being.
Who do they normally work with?
-Clinical Psychologist work with people with mental or physical health problems because it may include anxiety and depression which can lead to serious and enduring mental illness. They also work with other professionals including doctors, nurses, social workers, occupational therapists and physiotherapists. Clinical Psychologist work with people throughout the life-span and with those with learning disabilities.
Where do they work in ?
- Clinical Psychologists work largely in health and social care settings including hospitals, health centres, community mental health teams , child and adolescent mental health services and social services.
Clinical Psychologists are also undertake the role of scientist-practitioner as an innovator due to their high level of research skills.
The reason why i take this job because i can get to socialize with different people and understand their situation and try to help them.
